Health and Safety at ArcelorMittal Distribution Solutions Poland

At ArcelorMittal Distribution Solutions Poland we are realizing many initiatives in order to improve the health and safety of our employees. This includes not only costly investments in modernizing the production machines, but above all this means emphasis on building awareness among the employees of the appropriate and safe behavior at work.

On March 6th 2007 all over the group worldwide, was the first action ”Health and Safety Day at ArcelorMittal Distribution Solutions. Since then we have celebrated the H&S Day every spring in all facilities of the company in nearly 60 countries. The aim of this project is to make employees aware of the rules of safe work and to promote a preventive health policy. The schedule of the H&S Day does not include official ceremonies; all actions are transferred to production departments. These includes training courses, putting out fire demonstrations and saving people  as well as drawing contests for children. However, the most important message of these days focuses on the value that we try to promote every day: Safety is the priority of ArcelorMittal Distribution Solutions Poland.

The Safety awareness management system being implemented helps us to maintain a stable level of performance. We all realise that the reduction of the number of accidents is a serious challenge, but maintaining the high level of Safety within the company is even harder. Therefore, our aim is to instil good habits in our employees. Our continuous attempts to modify working and protective clothes as well as personal protection equipment are through suggestions and remarks done by our employees who are becoming more and more aware of the benefits of the proper use of such clothes and equipment.

The policy of Safety at ArcelorMittal Distribution Solutions Poland in its broad sense focuses also on health-oriented actions, such as: preventive vaccinations, healthy lifestyle promotion campaigns or free screening tests. We try to ensure the good health and well-being of our employees both on the job and at home.
