ArcelorMittal Distribution offer - laboratory

The Krakow steel service center has a laboratory to verify the quality of material delivered and under complaint. We can perform tests of both chemical composition and mechanical properties. In 2014, the laboratory in Krakow was accredited as complying with requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2005 and it obtained the accreditation of the Polish Center for Accreditation.

The tests we perform:

  • chemical composition using the emission spectrometry method
  • hardness with the Rockwell and Brinell methods
  • strength testing to 300 kN

  • spectrometer made by Spectro-Spectromaxx - elements tested: C, Si, Mn, P, S, Cr, Mo, Ni, Al, Co, Cu, Ti, V, Ca, Ta, N
  • hardness tester made by Galileo Durometria
    • Rockwell hardness test method (HRC range from 22.8 to 64.9)
    • Brinell hardness test method (HBW range from 118 to 331)
  • testing machine by Test GmbH
    • maximum strength of 300 kN
    • sample thickness from 0.4 mm to 14 mm

In a static tensile testing we determine the following parameters:

  • Rm (tensile strength)
  • Rp (yield point)
  • A (elongation)
  • n (strain-hardening coefficient)
  • r (anisotropy factor)
